The Gender Sensitization Forum of Sri Aurobindo college (M) organized a programme entitled " NATIONWIDE AWARENESS CAMPAIGN ABOUT THE LEGAL RIGHTS OF WOMEN" on 12th of October 2017.
Dr. Vipin Kumar Aggarwal, principal of Sri Aurobindo college , addressed the gathering and spoke about the inequality existing in the society and how rights can empower women in all spheres of life.
Miss Swati Maliwal ,Chairperson of the Delhi Commission for Women and social activist, who was the chief guest at the event, enlightened the audience by sharing her experiences while working with several NGOs and discussed various issues which are faced by women in India and how the Commission works for the betterment of their status . She also mentioned various existing laws that are available to women in the Constitution and how women should be made aware of these legal tools. She asked students to raise their voices againat all the pre-existing social and cultural ideologies that subordinate the status of women in society and also hinder their path of progress.
Lastly, a vote of thanks was given by Mrs. Rashmi Mathur , Nodal teacher for the Gender Sensitization Forum, Sri Aurobindo College
After the first session, a college level competition was organized in order to assess the knowledge of the students regarding women related legal rights.
