Department of History had organized an educational visit to the National Gallery of Modern Art (NGMA), for the students of BA (Prog.) VI semester on 13 April 2017. This visit was a part of their course work which deals with understanding of Indian Modern Paintings and works of famous artists. The visit included a brief introduction to art history, art appreciation and art criticism by the professional guide of NGMA. The students got an opportunity to understand the sequential development of modern Indian art through different galleries exhibiting the original works of pioneering artists since 1857 such as company paintings, Kalighat paintings, works of Raja Ravi Verma, Amrita Sher- Gil. The visit helped the students appreciate the work of the artists while they could visually experience the vital expressions of human spirit.
