Embarking on the spirit of festivities, Sri Aurobindo College inaugurated its three-day Annual Cultural Festival, MEHAK 2018 on 26th February, 2018. The festival began with lamp lighting ceremony in the august presence of the Chief Guest Gen. (Retd.) V.K. Singh, Minister of External Affairs (State) and Prof. Chandan Chaube, Chairman of college’s Governing Body. In his inaugural address, Gen. Singh emphasized upon the contribution of youth in nation building. Dr. Vipin Aggarwal, Principal of the College, lauded the efforts of students and staff members in organizing the 2018 edition of MEHAK 2018.
A string of activities were lined up for competition at different venues in the college that saw huge participation from colleges across Delhi-NCR. In Pratibimb, the Street Play Competition, twenty five participating teams touched upon contemporary socio-political and national issues such as eve-teasing, gender equality, importance of quality education and army’s contribution in safeguarding the country. Sri Ram College of Commerce bagged the first prize in Pratibimb.
Scores of teams wrestled it out in the Debate Competition where students focused upon the need of holistic education. Hansraj College was adjudged the best debating team. The participants of dancing and singing competition enthralled the audience with their energetic dance performances and musical talents respectively.
The highlights on the concluding day were Sur Sangam – Classical Group Singing and Mystique – the Fashion Show. Over 30 teams participated in these events. The Chief Guest was Sh. Ramesh Bidhuri, Member of Parliament, South Delhi constituency. The star performer was pop singer Dilpreet Dhillon who sparkled the mood and raised the tempo with his captivating back-to-back bollywood and Punjabi tracks. In his valedictory address, Principal of the college, Dr. Vipin Aggarwal thanked the cultural committee, staff members and students for making the festival truly successful.
