Rainbow 2018 Physics Fest organized by Dept. of Physics

The Dept. of Physics, Sri Aurobindo College celebrated “Rainbow 2018” physics fest for students of Physical science on 12th March 2018 in Physics lab and Seminar Hall. The event consisted of “Poster presentation” and “Physics Rangoli" followed by Invited lecture on “Energy Harvesting” by Prof. Vinay Gupta, Dept. of Physics & Astrophysics, University of Delhi.

Poster presenters touched upon a number of topics which have created ripples in the field of science lately such as “Gravitational Waves”, “Large Hadron Collider”, “Dark Matter”, “Electric/Hybrid automobiles, energy harvesting etc. Further Rangoli on evolving physics applications such as energy harvesting, Space capsules were very well received among the students and they seemed quite enthusiastic and involved. The competition was tough in both the events which is why results were tie on few positions.

While introducing Prof. Vinay Gupta, Dr. Sharmistha Lahiry gave a detailed description of his achievements in the field of Research and academic administration. Our Principal Dr. Vipin Kumar Aggarwal while inviting Prof. Gupta for the talk highlighted the fact that person like him is an inspiration for all of us for the work he has been doing as a teacher, researcher and administrator. Prof. Gupta gave a very inspiring and interesting talk on “Energy harvesting”. He explained in detail the recent innovations in this field, and it’s successful applications in program such as ISRO Chandrayaan mission. He demonstrated some projects which was based on energy harvesting such as lighting bulb from boiling water etc.

The event turned out to be a big hit as students and faculties enjoyed it throughly. Our chief guest seemed extremely impressed with science awareness and sound presentation skills of the students. Finally all the winners were rewarded with cash prizes and certificates. At the end Dr. Sanjay Tyagi thanked everyone including guest, Principal, Teacher-in-Charge , Dr. Om Prakash, other faculties and students for their participation.
