ANNUAL CULTURAL FESTIVAL - MEHAK'19

MEHAK 2019

Sri Aurobindo College held its three-day annual cultural extravaganza ‘Mehak 2019’ on 1st, 5th and 6th March 2019. The festival began with a lamp lighting ceremony in the august presence of Chief Guest Major General (Dr.) JKS Parihar, Guest of Honour DCP Vijay Kumar, Sh. Sanjay Mishra- Chairman of the Governing Body of the College, Dr. Vipin Kumar Aggarwal- Principal of the college and Dr. Sangeeta Kaul- Convenor of the programme. Major Gen. Parihar emphasized the role of patriotism in nation-building and the role of a college in the holistic development of a student. DCP Vijay Kumar talked about the judicious use of social media by today’s youth. Dr. Vipin Kumar Aggarwal in his inaugural address dedicated this year’s festival to the brave and courageous soldiers of India who fight valiantly for the Indian nation.

The festival saw large scale participation of students across colleges of Delhi-NCR in different events such as Singing, Dancing, Debate, Quiz, Mono-Act, Best out of Waste, Clay Modelling, and Photography etc. In Pratibimb-the Street Play Competition, 12 teams participated and many touched upon issues of contemporary relevance such as anti-terrorism and patriotism in wake of the recent Pulwama attacks. Hindu College won the first prize in this event while Guru Tegh Bahadur Institute of Technology bagged the second prize. A range of thematic presentations on human trafficking, environment conservation and women empowerment were displayed in the Fashion Show competition in which Maitreyi College won the first prize while Motilal Nehru College bagged the second. The Western dance competition was a huge hit with 16 swash buckling performances by different teams. Shaheed Bhagat Singh College won the first prize in this event while Gargi College bagged the second prize.  In a first of its kind event, a poetry competition was held for the differently abled in which Prakhar Srivastava from CIE won the first prize. 

The festival came to a close with star performer Deep Karan raising the tempo with his captivating back-to-back Punjabi tracks.
