Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat

The Debating Society SAGE of Sri Aurobindo College organized an Essay Writing Competition under the aegis of Ek Bharat Shreshta Bharat Program, MHRD, Government of India in the College on Friday, the 19th January,2018 .

The theme for the essay was "SOCIO-CULTURAL LIFE OF SIKKIM".

Students from Kirori Mal College, Hindu College, Keshav Mahavidyalaya, Shivaji College, etc. participated in this competition. The essay competition was bilingual – students wrote up both in Hindi and English. The essays projected the rich cultural heritage, social traditions, practice in organic agriculture and vibrant festivities. Students traced the socio-political roots of the dominant tribes of the state, including Lepchas and Bhotias. The essay competition helped to bring out DU students’ active interests in keeping themselves updated regarding the integration of Sikkim with the seven north-Eastern hill states and their oneness with the larger tapestry of Indian life.

The students who bagged First, Second and Third positions received cash prizes of Rs.3000, Rs.2000 and Rs1500 respectively.
The event was organized under the patronship of the Principal, Dr. Vipin Kumar Aggarwal , with Dr.Aprajita Chauhan and Dr. Poonam Jain as Coordinators.
