Sustainable Development Goals in Indian Context- Vision 2030

 

The Department of Environmental Science has organized a special event on the topic 'Sustainable Development Goals in Indian Context- Vision 2030' on 18th July, 2022, in pursuance with the Golden Jubilee Celebration of the college. The occasion was graced by two eminent speakers Prof. Pawan K. Joshi from the Department of Jawaharlal Nehru University and Prof. Radhey Shyam Sharma from the University of Delhi. They both shared their expertise and experience on the Sustainable Development Goals in India and enlightened the younger generation about the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and the accompanying Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). They deliberated on the strategic vision and aspirations of India for the future sustainable development. They highlighted on the fact that India can evolve as a leader by tapping on the ecosystem services and eco-preneurship in order to achieve the ambitious SDGs.

The main objective of this event was to aware and ignite the young minds about the Sustainable Development Goals that comprise of a global agenda to end poverty, protect the planet, and ensure all people enjoy peace and prosperity. There was a question and answers round to make the students’ participticipation in the discussion more inclusive. The aim of the event was served as students actively participated in this round and showed their curiosity on the topic. Three best questions were selected for prizes. The occasion was participated by the faculty members and students in large strength from all disciplines, and thereby making it successful.
