"Recent Innovations in Chemical Sciences and Environment Technology"

The Department of Chemistry of Sri Aurobindo College organized two-day National Seminar on "Recent Innovations in Chemical Sciences and Environment Technology" on March 3rd - 4th, 2017 sponsored by UGC and supported by DRDOONGC and SERBDST. The event recorded a high foot step of a number of dignitaries and distinguished speakers and attended by number of participants from across the entire country. The seminar marked its beginning with the lamp lighting and worshiping of goddess Saraswati and an opening speeches by chief guest, Prof. K. P. Singh, Vice – Chancellor CCS Haryana Agricultural University, Hisar, Guest of Honour, Dr. J. S. Sharma, General Manager (Chem.) IHead Environment, Corporate HSE, ONGC, Dr. P. V. Khatri, Principal, Swami Shraddhanand College and Dr Vipin Kumar, Principal, Sri Aurobindo College. They highlighted the significant roles that of chemical and technology together to establish the sustainable models of development and shared an insight into the innovation, inventions, models of development and that had provided the participants an opportunity to analyze advancements in the field of science and technology.

Various Speakers from different backgrounds were together on the same platform such as Prof. Harmeet Rehan, Head, Lady Hardinge Medical College, who discussed about the development of drugs and its impact in great detail whereas Prof. Rita Kakkar emphasized on the development and use of nano-materials. An opportunity of listening the talk of Prof. V. K. Jain, Vice –Chancellor, Doon University was obtained to the audience consisting of faculties and students as well. Prof. M. R. Maurya, Head of Chemistry Deptt, IIT Roorkee highlighted his work and discussed the catalytic aspects of polymer supported vanadium complexes. Prof. M. Thirumal stressed on the progress and challenges hold by Sustainable Chemical and Materials Science. Dr. Vandana Mishra talked about an emerging threat to ecosystem, economy and society by the release of synthetic dyes in environment. Over the period of two days, more than 50 papers were presented as poster and oral presentations which covered different fields of chemistry by UG students, scholars and faculty members from different parts of the nation. The program was concluded with a valedictory session which began with the release of the proceeding of the seminar. The session was graced with the presence of chief guest, Kunwar Bhartendra Singh, Hon’ble Member of Parliament, Government of India and Guest of Honour, Prof. Agnikumar G. Vedeshwar, Chairman, SAC. They inspired the youngsters and talked about the recent innovations to be carried out for the development. At the end, he appreciated the organizing team and the college for organizing the event and enriching the academic discussion. Dr. Pravita Kumar, Convener, warmly thanked all the speakers, faculty members, participants and the principal congratulated the team of organizers & volunteers for making the event a great success.
