Clean and Green Deepavali

The festival of lights, Deepavali, celebrates the victory of good over evil and the conquest of light over darkness. This festival, if celebrated in the traditional sense has little to do with fireworks. So, instead of polluting the environment with them, an urge to celebrate an eco-friendly Deepavali is the need of the hour. Keeping this objective in mind, the Society for Environment and NSS Society’s volunteers of the college organized a ‘Clean and Green Deepavali’ event. The programme started with a Street Play under the same theme, which was followed by a rally from the college to Malviya Nagar market and way back. The rally was flagged off by the Principal, Dr. Vipin Kumar Agarwal to celebrate a green Deepavali. The students participated in the rally in large numbers by displaying play cards and raising slogans to sensitize the local people to celebrate the festival of light with no crackers. Beautiful play cards were made to highlight the harmful effects of the pollutants released from the burning of crackers. The Street Play was again played at the centre of the market place and emphasized on the celebration of an ecofriendly Deepavali. The college premise was beautifully decorated with earthen diyas and rangoli. The students, faculty and staff members also pledged to celebrate a smokeless Deepavali.
